Notice of P2 Visa Fee Increase

This fee increase affects musicians applying for work visas in the US. If you have dates coming up you have time to submit applications at the old rate as the AFM’s P2 administration fee structure will change Monday, January 16, 2012.

Lou Williamson Scholarships

Former Local 247 president Lou Williamson's estate generously provided scholarships for drum kit as well as mallet performers. These will be will be awarded in mid May at Musicfest Canada in Richmond. Percussionists are encouraged to apply. More info is available here:

On-line Member Forums

The International website has forums on a number of topics. The forum allows the exchange of information about music, but also can be an opportunity to learn from each other, creating business models that keep musicians working in their communities.

In an effort to streamline the process, members are now able to make their payment on-line through PayPal. No PayPal account or login procedure is required. Most major credit cards accepted. In the members area.

Performing in the US or Canada

Liana White (CFM Director of Administrative Services) gives the lowdown on what CFM members need to do when performing cross-border engagements. She has written two articles, one for the International Musician (to read online, log in at www.afm.org and click on the International Musician tab), the other for Songwriters Magazine (read in pdf format).
